    Description

    An outstanding Gold Ducat from the county of Pfalz Simmern. Virtually never encountered  this side of the Rhine and problem free. Issued for Count Richard, who ruled, 1569-1598. Simmern mint. The count  is standing on the obverse holding a sword n his right hand, with his left hand on the sword hilt. Reverse has a four part shield and the date, "76". A wonderful example of early Renaissance Gold coinage. WEight is 3.5 Gm. Cataloged as Fr-2051. We will begin at 5.
