    This book contains abstracts of the first 325 accepted Bexar County applications for a Texas Confederate Pension.
    Authorized by the voters of Texas, the Texas State legislature passed an act in May 1899, providing a pension to indigent and disabled Texas Confederate veterans or their widows.
    In total, over the years, 1084 applications were filed by Bexar County residents.
    Of these, 940 were accepted and 144 were rejected. This book contains abstracted records of the first 325 accepted Bexar County applicants, which were extracted from microfilmed application records.

    Abstracts are listed in order of appearance on the microfilm.
    The book contains an index of applicants and witnesses and their regiments. The book also includes an index of all names appearing in the applications.
    There is also a Table of Military Units of Applicants and Witnesses.
    An index of ALL of the applications for a Texas Confederate Pension, both accepted and rejected, county by county, is online at the
    Archives Division of the Texas State Library.
